Paintings inspired by those magical moments in life....

 

Janifer Calvez lives in southern Alberta, surrounded by the natural beauty of the prairie, mountains and wind. Her acrylic and watercolour paintings are inspired by much time spent outside in nature, her travels and the people that surround her.

Throughout the years, she has been guided and instructed by many amazing artists through courses, workshops and shared time in the studio. Her impressions of the world around her are displayed in her paintings full of character and whimsy, as she plays with light and colour.

 

Janifer believes that people take care of what they know and love.  She hopes to capture the special moments that surround us in our every day experiences, and help people to notice and appreciate the small pleasures and blessings in the normality of life.

 

It is important to Janifer to be involved in her surrounding community, and served on the Okotoks Arts Council board for many years, helping to support Arts & Culture and connecting arts groups together. She now sits on the board of the Allied Arts Council of Pincher Creek. She also is a Medical Laboratory Technologist and is an instructor in the Medical Laboratory Programs at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary. In June 2017, she opened Okotoks' newest Art Gallery with fellow artist, Cheryl Taylor, called Lineham House Galleries housed in a beautiful historic home on tree lined Elma Street.  Visit the gallery at 33 Elma Street, where they showcase and support many amazing southern Alberta artists. Janifer stepped away from ownership and management in July 2020, but continues to support and show her work there.

 

Janifer's work has been displayed in many shows over the years, and you can find some pieces in Lineham House Galleries in Okotoks, Alberta. Further south, you may find pieces in Pincher Creek, Alberta in the Lebel Mansion Gallery.

 

Many people commission original work that is based on a painting that they envision. She loves to work with people who enjoy her style of painting, helping them to aquire a piece that speaks to them, and works in their space.

 

Cards and canvas prints are also available upon request in various sizes.
